Fundraising Events for the New Year

We've made it through another year! A new year approaches with new hope, adventures, and opportunities. Many people choose to make New Year's resolutions whether it be learning to telemark ski or simply reading a new book. One common resolution is to participate in helping the community more. Here are a few events that you can attend to help benefit a good cause while still getting in some winter sports time.

10th Annual Warren Miller Film Screening

This screening of Warren Miller's 67th feature, Here, There & Everywhere benefits SafeHouse Denver. This organization supports victims of domestic violence and their children providing emergency services, shelter, and counseling in the Denver, CO area. The event was started 10 years ago by two SafeHouse Denver volunteers and has been going strong ever since. It's a great way for ski and snowboard enthusiasts to get together and help out. Along with great giveaways, the purchase of your ticket includes various ski lift and lodging deals!

When: Friday, January 13th, 2017. Doors open at 6 pm. Show starts at 7 pm

Where: Stoney's Bar and Grill Denver, CO

Cost: $25

Lady Wild Film Fest

The is the first year for this family friendly event by And Shes Dope Too. This is a group of adventurous, strong women who are on a mission to, "empower and support women everywhere, as well as defend our many animals and protect our beautiful earth" and to " strip away any feelings of the compare-and-compete culture that is so prevalent in our media and world today." This event features 6 films that showcase and support women in film who push the boundaries in everyday life and celebrate sisterhood. The proceeds will go towards funding the production of "Endure Nepal", a film focused on the everyday struggles and dreams of women in Nepal. Along with entertainment, there will also be giveaways and a silent auction. A chance to see some amazing female focused films all while helping support empowerment of women around the globe.

When: Friday, January 27th, 2017. Doors open at 5:30 pm. First show starts at 6:30 pm

Where: Ogden High Egyptian Auditorium Ogden, UT

Cost: $15

Tahoe SAFE Alliance Ski Day

Purchase a set rate day lift ticket to NorthStar Ski Resort from the Tahoe SAFE Alliance site and proceeds go towards their organization. Their mission is to help with trauma resulting in domestic and sexual violence as well as child abuse in the North Lake Tahoe and Lake Truckee areas. The lift ticket has no blackout dates so you can enjoy the slopes any day you'd like while benefiting a good cause.

When: Anytime in the 2016-2017 ski season

Where: NorthStar Ski Resort, California-Other Vail Resorts may offer the same deal

Cost: $111.00 no matter the day
